“We are honored to be awarded industry accreditation and proud to be the only Virginia destination to achieve the exclusive status in 2017,” said Ann Marie Maher, President & CEO of Discover Prince William & Manassas. “The Destination Marketing Accreditation Program (DMAP) seal is an honor that doesn’t come easily and we are humbled to be recognized by our industry peers. This accolade speaks to the professionalism of our organization and solidifies Discover Prince William & Manassas as a thought leader in the tourism and destination marketing industry,” she added.
During the 2017 Destinations International Annual Conference, Discover Prince William & Manassas was one of only 8 newly accredited organizations from around the world to receive the DMAP seal in recognition of a commitment to industry excellence and meeting the industry standard for performance and accountability of destination marketing organizations. Several other destination marketing organizations also renewed their applications or were reaccredited at the conference. There are currently 200 DMAP accredited organizations worldwide.
The accreditation program requires destination marketing organizations to successfully comply with nearly 100 mandatory and voluntary standards that span a variety of performance areas to gain this momentous achievement. The standards cover nearly all aspects related to the management and marketing of destination organizations including finance, human resources, sales, strategic planning, analytic reporting, communications, destination development and research.
