First Day Hike: Complete History of the Leesylvania State Park

Bring in the New Year with a guided hike led by two former staff that are experts on Leesylvania State Park. Brendon Hanafin served as Chief Ranger and Assistant Park Manager at Leesylvania State Park and now manages 16 properties and 553 acres of preserved historic and natural sites for Prince William County. Jim Klakowicz has 32 years of experience with Virginia State Parks and within that time he built Leesylvania State Park. He has over 1000 volunteer hours from events, maintaining blue bird boxes and so much more! Start with a quick tour of the history museum and viewing of the Leesylvania program. Then walk down the Potomac Trail, to Freestone Point, through Lee's Woods Trail and back to the Visitor Center. This 90 minute hike will start the year on the right foot. The Forgotten World War and Its Impact at Home: World War I Collaborative Exhibit with the Manassas Musuem

Working in conjunction with the Manassas Museum this exhibit will look at the home front in Prince William County and Manassas during World War I. Themes will include music and propaganda, the impact of the Spanish Flu epidemic in the area, and the growth of farms and local military bases and their impact on the county. A final section will list all the soldiers from the area that were KIA. Attachments
