Holiday Night at Rippon Lodge

For one night only, see Rippon Lodge by candlelight at Christmastime. Beginning with a special tree lighting ceremony with tree ornaments decorated by local school children, visitors will see the grounds and several of the historic buildings beautifully lit with lights. Guest may tour the Holiday through the Ages decorations by candlelight, listen to music, enjoy making seasonal crafts, a warm beverage, shopping and holiday cookies. One night only. Christmas 1862

Christmas 1862 was bittersweet. The holiday season was certainly a welcome distraction from the ongoing war, yet endless families had an empty chair at the table that year. For the communities around Manassas Junction, that December was still a time of rebuilding from the second major battle in thirteen months.This event is hosted by the Manassas Battlefield Trust, in concert with Manassas National Battlefield ParkJoin us to celebrate Victorian Christmas traditions with caroling, crafts, cider, cookies, and more, as well as t0 remember the soldiers who were away from home for Christmas 1862, and those who would never return. The historic Stone House is located at the intersection of Lee Highway and Sudley Road. . Allow 30-45 minutes to experience the event. Tickets are free, but required in order to attend the event. Annual Star Wars Days Family Festival and Comic Con

Star Wars Days returns on December 2nd and 3rd at Woodbridge Senior High School in Woodbridge, VA Star Wars Days is a one of kind place for Star Wars, Sci-Fi, fantansy, Pop culture, STEM, comics and anime. Enjoy great merchandise from our vendors and artists. (This is the place for your Christmas shopping.) We have games, crafts, and a Jedi Training Academy for our young padawans. Put out a bounty on your friends and have out bounty hunters take them away. Enjoy panels and discussions. Costume contests both days. Jedi mind tricks won't work at our silent auction, only bidding! Our gaming room with have board games, X-Wing Miniature tables and more. Special Cub Scout activities and Boy Scout Merit Badge classes. Tickets are available online now at www.StarWarsDays.com! JEB Stuart Christmas Raid Tour

Confederate general JEB Stuart is famous for leading his cavalry in raids around his Federal opponent. While his raids on the Peninsula and towards Gettysburg are well known, his 1862 Christmas Raid through Northern Virginia is less well known. Join local historians on a special bus tour exploring the seldom visited sites associated with this raid. Tour includes lunch and departs from Williams Ordinary in Dumfries. Holidays Through the Ages

Visit Rippon Lodge and stroll through seasonal celebrations gone by. The interior and exterior of the historic house will be decorated for the holidays. Various rooms inside the home will represent different periods of seasonal celebrations, from the Colonial Period through the 1940s. Light refreshments, a warm beverage, and shopping for unique Rippon merchandise round out a wonderful tour. Reservations strongly recommended for groups larger than 4. Tours begin on the hour on the front porch. Guests should dress in appropriate attire and comfortable shoes for this walking tour. Attachments

Nature’s Pharmacy: Plants that Heal The Botanical Art Society of the National Capital Region On exhibit: November 1 – December 13 The Botanical Art Society of the National Capital Region is a chapter of the American Society of Botanical Artists with over 100 members in Virginia. BASNCR promotes an appreciation of botanical art and supports educational activities focusing on botanical awareness. Their exhibits showcase the beauty of nature, as well as the science of botanical art while utilizing a variety of media such as watercolor, graphite, and colored pencil. Nature’s Pharmacy fuses this passion for science and the beauty of nature by emphasizing plants with historic medicinal purposes.
