History in Your Hands

HIYH is a program for visitors of all ages who are blind or have low vision. HIYH is an opportunity to interact with the collections through tactile exploration of selected objects, and through verbal description, tactile graphics, and other materials for artifacts that cannot be touched. Trained Museum volunteers and Visitor Services staff lead these events. There is no fee for this program, but preregistration is required. Louie Loves Semper K9

Visit Bar Louie on this date to support Semper K9 Assistance dogs. 20% of all sales will be donated to this local charity, which rescues dogs from local shelters and trains them to be service dogs for disabled veterans. Attachments

Lucasville School Open House

Join us as we celebrate African American History Month at historic Lucasville School with our open house weekends in February. Visit the reconstructed 19th century school used by the community of Lucasville. Learn surprising facts of African American history in Prince William County and throughout the Northern Virginia region. Each weekend, enjoy a different activity in the schoolhouse, from tours and crafts, to photograph exhibits.  

The Underground Railroad Network to Freedom

The Leesylvania property is associated with the flight of two runaway slaves as well as a slave who escaped in 1848. A band of escaped slaves also informed Union soldiers of Confederate activity at the property's Freestone Point in September 1861. Learn about aspects of the park's rich and diverse history as we celebrate Black History Month. Displays will illustrate our inclusion into the National Park Services Network to Freedom program. Bob's Discount Store Grand Opening (festival)

Grand Opening Celebration of new furniture store in Woodbridge. Schedule of events are as follows: Balloons Clowns and Face Painters 2/15 and 2/16 from 3-8 PM, and 2/17-2/19 from 11AM-4PM. WASH 97.1 FM radio (soft rock) street team will be there from 4-6 PM on 2/16. On 2/19, meet Redskins greats Gary Clark and Ravin Caldwell.
