Unscripted DC

Unscripted DC is coming back to Jirani Coffeehouse as the areas best Improvisers bring you a night full of knee slapping, hand clapping, hilarious entertainment.   Unscripted fun--where actors take the stage and enjoy using their acting skills without the privilege of a script in this hands free comedic form of entertainment. At unscripted, we play a variety of "short-form" improvisational games. The catch is that some players are chosen directly from the audience. In addition, the audience participates by giving suggestions during the show. Feb 3 2:00 pm Sesame Street: One World, One Sky: Join Big Bird and Elmo on an unforgettable journey to the Moon and back! When Elmo’s friend Hu Hu Zhu stops by Sesame Street for a visit, he notices that Sesame Street is a little bit different from his home in China. But when he looks up at the sky, he feels right at home. Elmo and Hu Hu Zhu may live in different cities, but they share the same sky! With a little help from Big Bird, the two friends learn about the Sun, the Moon, and the Big Dipper, then blast off in an imaginary rocket to the Moon! Along the way, they invite the audience to sing along to songs about space and celebrate the sky that belongs to everyone. Feb 3 5:00 pm Legends of the Night Sky: Orion: Accompanied by Aesop the owl and Socrates the mouse, we follow Orion’s as he battles mythical beasts, foils the plot of an evil king and wins the heart of Artemis, the beautiful moon-goddess. Feb 3 6:30 pm Stars: Every star has a story. Some are as old as time, faint and almost forgotten. Others burn bright and end their lives in powerful explosions. Lucasville School Open House

Visit the reconstructed 19th century school used by the community of Lucasville. Learn surprising facts of African American history in Prince William County and throughout the Northern Virginia region. Each weekend, enjoy a different activity in the schoolhouse, from tours and crafts, to photograph exhibits.  

The Underground Railroad Network to Freedom

The Leesylvania property is associated with the flight of two runaway slaves as well as a slave who escaped in 1848. A band of escaped slaves also informed Union soldiers of Confederate activity at the property's Freestone Point in September 1861. Learn about aspects of the park's rich and diverse history as we celebrate Black History Month. Displays will illustrate our inclusion into the National Park Services Network to Freedom program.
