Our intent with Discover Occoquan is to display to the public all that our wonderful town has to offer and encourage tourism and commerce. The day kicks off with the Blessing of the Fleet at 10am, a special time-honored tradition embraced by local marinas, yacht clubs, and the Occoquan River Maritime Association. There will be a parade of boats that will come into the basin about 10am and circle twice in front of our town dock area. After that, events will be scheduled at varying times throughout the day in multiple locations around town. We are asking our businesses to participate with their own creative engagement or activity to have our visitors “Discover Occoquan.” Some businesses will sponsor free interactive classes or demonstrations; others will offer themed food. We also hope to have tours, music, contests, lawn games, and a photo booth throughout the day. Our event wraps up with a concert at River Mill Park from 6pm to 8pm. Tentative Schedule 10am: Blessing of the Fleet 11am-4pm: Classes, demos, and other activities throughout town 5pm-6pm: Business Flash Sale 6pm-8pm: Concert at River Mill Park. (More information TBA.) Colin: Son, Marine, Hero

Friday, 05/18/2018 7:30 PM - Saturday, 05/19/2018

Manassas Ballet Theatre closes our 2017-18 season with an original and very personal ballet, Colin: Son, Marine, Hero. MBT is proud to once again present this full-length ballet, showcasing the story of Artistic Director Amy Grant Wolfe’s son Colin, who lost his life in Iraq to a roadside bomb in 2006. Colin debuted in November 2014 at the Hylton Performing Arts Center after Wolfe expanded her original one act ballet, gathering inspiration by interviewing Colin’s commander and fellow Marines during the summer of 2014 and adding new layers to the original heart of the story. The ballet Colin continues to evolve for this season’s presentation as Wolfe incorporates new ideas to further enhance the story. The Manassas Ballet Theatre Orchestra will perform the original score by acclaimed composer Mark Menza. Attachments
