Movies Under the Stars

Looking for a fun, free night out? Every Saturday night during the summer, the Town Center will be showing movies on its large screen in the center of the complex. Bring a picnic blanket and lawn chairs and either a meal from home or stop in at any of the half dozen restaurants surrounding the plaza and pick up a meal, and bring it outside and watch Movies Under the Stars. Potomac Nationals vs. Wilmington Blue Rocks

Saturday night at the ballpark is always an action-filled night, and this one is no exception. The P-Nats continue their series with the Blue Rocks, and there is plenty for the fans to do. Most baseball fans know the name Tommy John-the first 1250 fans will receive an Ode to Tommy John surgery elbow figurine. Flying Dog Brewery will be on sight for a beer tasting. Theme of the night will be How the Grinch stole halfway to Christmas, a celebration of the 60th anniversary of the original film. After the game, there will be fireworks, kids will be allowed to run the bases, and scouts will be invited to pitch a tent on the field, sleep over, and watch a movie on the video board. Attachments

Charity Hockey Game-Police vs. Firefighters

Would you like to enjoy some great ice hockey action and at the same time contribute to a worthwhile charity? Then come to the Prince William Ice Center for the 1st-ever charity hockey game between Prince William County's finest-our firefighters vs. our men and women of law enforcement. This will be a friendly charity hockey event to raise money for the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation as well as Law Enforcement United. This benefit event will include raffles, contests (including chuck-a-duck) and food trucks. More about these charities can be found at http://www.firehero.org and http://www.leunited.org. World War II Weekend at Rippon Lodge

Admiral Black, the last owner of Rippon Lodge, was a WWII veteran and survivor of Pearl Harbor. Learn about daily life of soldiers in the European and Pacific Theatres from living historians portraying Axis and Allied soldiers. Learn about their equipment, armaments, historic military vehicles, and medical care on and off the battlefield. Also explore how citizens at home supported the war effort and view original WWII artifacts. On the evening of July 8th, join us for a showing of Stalag 17, the story of a group of American airmen held in a German World War II prisoner of war camp, who come to suspect that one of their number is an informant. Adapted from a Broadway play, the movie was produced and directed by Billy Wilder, and starred William Holden, Don Taylor, Peter Graves and Otto Preminger in the role of the camp's commandant. Enjoy popcorn and beverages (available for purchase), and bring blankets and chairs to sit and enjoy the movies. Donations welcomed. Movie cancelled in event of rain. Attachments

Bristoe Station Battlefield Heritage Park Tours

Bristoe Station Battlefield staff and volunteers will provide guided tours of the hallowed grounds that contain camps, cemeteries, and battlefields. Learn about Camp Jones and the battles that took place in 1862 and 1863. Tours begin on the hour and depart from the kiosk in the parking lot on Iron Brigade Unit Avenue. The last tour leaves at 3PM. Please dress for the weather and wear comfortable walking shoes. Insect repellant is encouraged. No pets please. Attachments

Bristoe Off the Park Battlefield Tour

While Bristoe Station Battlefield Heritage Park contains the site of some of the heaviest fighting at Bristoe Station, it does not contain all of it. Join park historians for a special walking tour of New Bristow Village to learn about the events that took place there. Attachments

Yoga on the Lawn at Rippon Lodge

Enjoy performing yoga on the lawn with amazing views of the Potomac River and historic Rippon Lodge in the background. No one could ask for a better outdoor venue to exercise. Join certified instructor Christopher Glowacki for an hour long Vinyasa yoga practice. Beginning yoga students to well-versed devotes are welcomed. Participants are encouraged to bring a yoga mat, towel and plenty of water; beginners may want to bring a block and/or strap. Classes are offered most Saturday mornings from May to September. Call Rippon Lodge to confirm class day and times. Those purchasing 10 classes will receive punch cards which are good for the whole season. Additional classes may be purchased at any time.
