Woodcut and Print Demonstration instructed by Max-Karl Winkler

We have a woodcut and print demonstration instructed by Max-Karl Winkler, August 4, 6-8 pm in the Caton Merchant Family Gallery (9419 Battle St. Manassas VA 20110). Join us Saturday, August 4 at 6 pm in the Caton Merchant Family Gallery (Center for the Arts of Greater Manassas/PW County) for a woodcut and print demonstration by artist and previous Smithsonian educator, Max-Karl Winkler. The demonstration will be followed by a Q & A. Max-Karl Winkler has been an artist and teacher in the Washington metropolitan area since 1984; his work is in the collections of the Library of Congress, the Smithsonian Institution, the National Museum of American Art, the Georgetown University Library, and many private collections. His recent work has been executed in pen and ink, woodcut, wood engraving, watercolor, and oil painting, with additional interest in more complex techniques and formats such as: the multiblock color woodcut, the reduction woodcut, and the whiteline woodcut. Music on Mill- Jahnel Daliyah

The Town of Occoquan is proud to announce this summer's Music on Mill, a free summer concert series featuring family-friendly entertainment. Concerts are held on Friday and Saturday evenings at River Mill Park, 458 Mill Street, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Bring a blanket or lawn chair (no tents or pop ups), pack a snack or picnic, and head down to River Mill Park for live entertainment and stunning views of the Occoquan River! Wetland Walk

Meet at the Bushey Point Trailhead in the Marina Parking Lot. Explore the wet side of the park on this guided hike into the tidal wetlands along Bushey Point. Learn some of the plants that live their lives under water, their vital role in the environment, and look for some of the wildlife that they support. Pond Play at Leesylvania State Park

Virginia Sales Tax Holiday

When is it? August 4-6, 2017. The 3-day sales tax holiday starts the first Friday in August at 12:01 am and ends the following Sunday at 11:59 pm. What is it? During the sales tax holiday, you can buy qualifying school supplies, clothing, footwear, hurricane and emergency preparedness items, and Energy Star™ and WaterSense™ products without paying sales tax. What items are eligible?
