Start at Grind N Crepe at 9am for a cup o' joe and breakfast, continue to Penguin Paddling to rent kayaks and paddleboards and finish the afternoon on the Patio of Madigan's Waterfront Restaurant for lunch and drinks. Get Nuts for National Public Lands Day

Help Potomac Conservancy kick off the Growing Native season here at Leesylvania State Park. Volunteers of all ages and backgrounds are welcome to help collect native tree seeds in this beautiful and historic park. These seeds will go to local nurseries that grow trees for reforesting efforts across the region. Not only will you be creating forests for tomorrow, you will also learn more about the important connection between healthy, forested lands and clean waters. What you need: Close-toed shoes and Sharp nut-spotting eyes What we provide: Everything else. All tools, drinking water, and supplies will be provided by Potomac Conservancy and Leesylvania State Park. Check-in is between 9:30 a.m. and 10. It is important that you arrive on time so that we can get started with instructions and a brief Tree-ID lesson at 10 a.m. Tell the ranger at the gate that you are there for the volunteer event for free admission. Yoga on the Lawn at Rippon Lodge

Enjoy performing yoga on the lawn with amazing views of the Potomac River and historic Rippon Lodge in the background. No one could ask for a better outdoor venue to exercise. Join certified instructor Christopher Glowacki for an hour long Vinyasa yoga practice. Beginning yoga students to well-versed devotes are welcomed. Participants are encouraged to bring a yoga mat, towel and plenty of water; beginners may want to bring a block and/or strap. Classes are offered most Saturday mornings from May to September. Call Rippon Lodge to confirm class day and times. Those purchasing 10 classes will receive punch cards which are good for the whole season. Additional classes may be purchased at any time. Civil War Raiders of Northern Virginia Bus Tour

One of the most famous figures to emerge from the Civil War was John S. Mosby. Operating behind Federal lines in Northern Virginia, Mosby created a legacy that still resounds today. However Mosby was not the only band of guerillas in the area; other bands of soldiers from Virginia and South Carolina also worked in the area. Join historians from Prince William County Historic Preservation Division and the Mosby Heritage Area Association for a special bus tour that will not only visit Mosby sites, but also other guerilla sites in Northern Virginia. Visual Magic - The Art of Four Picture Book Illustrators Visual Magic features four talented children’s book illustrators: Janet Stoeke, Carol Schwartz, Susan Roth, and Jennifer O’Connell. The artists have contributed to multiple children’s publications, and their crisp dynamic images bring life to the stories. They work with various mediums, including gouache, Photoshop, and even collage to express topics that range from science and nature to culture and history! Meet the illustrators at the reception, September 16, 2017 at 5:30 pm. *Bookworm Central will have books available for purchase at the reception. ********* Greater Manassas/Prince William County sponsors theatrical productions for children and adults, teaches arts classes, promotes visual arts and provides community outreach programs for local youth. Founded in 1984 by a group of artists and art lovers, the Center aims to enrich the quality of life in the Northern Virginia suburbs through arts performance and education.
