Colonial Camp is a week-long summer day camp (Monday-Friday, 10:00am-2:00pm) intended for rising 4th-6th graders. Children learn about colonial history and archaeology through fun hands-on activities and make-and-take crafts such as dipping candles, making ice cream, sewing a sampler, and writing secret messages like Revolutionary War spies! Come take a tour during Fourth of July weekend and enjoy our family-friendly special holiday program! Learn about the ways colonists rebelled before and during the American Revolution. Taste herbal teas consumed by boycotting colonists, make and take a piece of "homespun" fabric to show off your allegiance, write a coded message like a Patriot spy sign your name on the Prince William Resolves with a quill and more! FUNdraising Concert in Merchant Park

Come out to Merchant Park for an evening of family fun and to support the preservation of your local history! Bring a picnic blanket or chairs and enjoy live music at the William Grayson Memorial Bandstand. Free Children's Day at the Weems-Botts Museum

Join us for a combined STEM/history lesson! Learn about Dumfries' harbor and why it silted in through a hands-on experiment. See if you can craft a "seaworthy" vessel. Try it out in our mini-harbor and see if you can keep your "cargo" (tea bag) dry! Make a model ship to take home. Craft and snacks, while supplies last. Sponsored by Walmart.Attachments
