Join us at Ben Lomond as we commemorate the 152nd anniversary of Ben Lomond being used as a Civil War hospital. Specialized tours include medical demonstrations provided by living historians, interactions with actors portraying some of the people that were actually here, and inclusion of interactive displays. In remembrance of Ben Lomond being used as a hospital over 150 years ago, the American Red Cross will be hosting a Blood Drive on the site from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm on Saturday 20th. During the quiet winter of 1861-62, men were still dying long after the Battle of First Manassas. Disease killed more Civil War soldiers than combat and both armies were especially hard hit during the first years of the war. Please join staff for a guided tour about the Civil War soldiers' deadliest enemy. Civil War at the Junction
August 23-25, 2013
Step back in time in Old Town Manassas and experience Civil War events that transformed a sleepy railroad junction into a thriving camp and then a devastated landscape. Learn about the lives of soldiers and civilians as they faced hardship beyond measure. Civil War at the Junction, a living history commemoration for serious Civil War buffs and families alike, will feature military and medical demonstrations, African-American interpretation, period baseball games, music, food, a bourbon tasting, and a re-enactment remembering General Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson’s 1862 raid on the railroad junction.

Civil War at the Junction

Advanced Civil War Camp

Participants will drill their peers, learn an artillery drill, explore noncommissioned officers administrative responsibilities, spend a day with Confederate General Robert E. Lee, and take a field trip to Manassas National Battlefield Park. Participants MUST have attended the Basic Civil War Summer Camp.
