Get a bingo card and a glass of beer (or wine) and keep your ears peeled for songs listed on your card. Do you have the music recognition skills to outlast the competition? You could win major awards! It’s more fun than should be allowed on a Thursday night… but it is… we checked. We’ll rotate the genres each week (Hip Hop; Country; Pop; Rock; Decades). Here’s how it works: You get a bingo card with your initial purchase of a beer or wine, and additional cards can be purchased for $2 each. The proceeds from the additional cards will go to support wounded warriors through Azalea Charities. Music will play over the speakers, and if you correctly identify the song, and it is on your card, you mark that song. If you get 5 in a row before everyone else, you’ll win a major award. And as an added twist, if two or more people get bingo at the same time, we’ll have a dance-off to determine the winner (by popular vote of course). Visit the taproom every Thursday night 7-9pm to join the fun! Attachments

Math in Motion: What Dance can tell us About Motor Control

Thursday, 04/12/2018 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM

The Arts and Engineering are not typically considered complimentary approaches, but it takes technical competence to be a successful artist, and artistic skills to be a great engineer and scientist. For example, dance choreography requires coordinating the music, lighting and body motions to establish the mood and intention of the piece. In a similar way, scientists define a question, form a hypothesis and intricately coordinate experiments and analyses to rigorously test the theory. A unique collaboration between the George Mason School of Dance and the Department of Bioengineering is currently combining these approaches to examine how the human brain is able to precisely control movement. We are specifically examining dancers' ability to adjust trained body motions from one spatial layout to a new, untrained layout. This is similar to performing on different stages with little practice, such as one performance at the Kennedy Center followed by a performance at the Hippodrome. These transformations between different spatial layouts are very mathematically complex, yet dancers are able to perform these computations effortlessly, revealing a highly sophisticated motor system. Thus, this study is a unique opportunity to quantify our sense of body awareness and examine the high level of intelligence required to perform complex motor skills. Our insights may be useful for understanding the development of motor expertise, which has implications for motor development, training and rehabilitation. 6:00PM: Doors open, food and beverages available 7:00PM-7:30PM: Scientific Discussion 7:30PM-7:45PM: Q&A 7:45PM-8:30PM: Meet the Scientist and Networking Reception Attachments

Attachments

Monday, 04/23/2018 7:30 AM

April 23rd at 7:30 pm the Prince William Art Society will host a program at 12298 Cotton Mill Dr, Woodbridge, VA 22192 featuring David Cochran, a Fine Artist concentrating on layered colored pencil work, sometimes incorporating watercolor and pen and ink. Mr. Cochran's work celebrates wildlife, flowers, produce from the garden, and the allure of a glass of wine at the end of the day; natural choices for an artist whose realistic, detailed depictions glow with color and light. Mr. Cochran is a member of Springfield Arts Guild and The Artists' Undertaking where his work can be viewed: http://theartistsundertaking.com/david_cochran.htm . Programs are free and open to the public. For directions: https://www.princewilliamartsociety.com/ Attachments

Citizen’s Choice Randall (Beer Infusion) Day

Wednesday, 04/25/2018 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM

Have any great ideas of what would go great infused into beer? Maybe chocolate and strawberries infused into our oatmeal stout; or mangoes and habanero peppers into our VAIPA? Let us know what flavor-enhancing ingredients (like fruit, coffee beans, spices, tootsie rolls, whatever else) you think would go well with one of our beers on drought. We’ll take the best ideas and create a poll each week for other citizens to vote on. The top choice each week will be featured in our taproom on Wednesdays (4-7pm) and the citizen submitting the winning idea will get a sample of the beer they concocted. Have your ideas submitted before Saturday of each week so voting can start Sundays. Submissions made after Saturdays will be considered for the next poll. Attachments

Radio Bingo

Thursday, 04/26/2018 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Attachments
